Narrative? What’s That?

The guiding light of EvE belongs to players. The narrative of the game is very much defined by two things. The framework rules that CCP sets up (aka the sandbox) and the actions of the players within them (castles and stompin’) Which is why events like Hulkageddon are AWESOME!
What is even more amazing to me is that every single year players have whined about the event. Their entitlement is staggering, their assumption that CCP wants EvE to be a safe environment is ignorant.
The narrative of EvE comes from the players. You can pick your part in the narrative. Hulkageddon is an avalanche folks. You can take part, you can help run shit, or you can get buried because unless you have a lot of ability to resist you will get bowled under.
You can try to set up any narrative you want in EvE. You stick within the rules and you can fight to defend it as much as you want. There is no part in the rules of the game that say other people have to go along. There is no sign out in space saying “Come here, it’s safe” that isn’t hiding the biggest trap since Admiral Ackbar got invited to meet the Emperor for a coupla beers after the inter-fleet regatta; and that was a LONG time ago.
You can try to set your narrative, and you can try to defend it. The only help you will get is that which you have earned with treasure or toil, 15 bucks a month doesn’t buy you a safe EvE.
